What we do

Water is the thing that ruins landscapes

A soggy corner of the lawn, water in the basement after a storm, mulch washing across the driveway, they're all the same problem: water going where it shouldn't. We solve it at the source, by reading how water moves across your property and giving it a better place to go.

That might mean regrading to create positive slope away from the house, a French drain to intercept water underground, catch basins and dry wells to collect it, or tying leaking downspouts into a buried line that carries roof water out to daylight. Usually it's a combination, designed for your specific yard.

  • Regrading for positive slope away from the home
  • French drains and buried drainage lines
  • Catch basins, dry wells, and pop-up emitters
  • Downspout and gutter drainage tie-ins
  • Wet-spot and erosion fixes

The base under everything

The unglamorous work that protects the rest

Drainage and grading are the parts of a project nobody sees, and the parts that decide whether everything else lasts. A patio, a new lawn, or a planting bed built over a drainage problem will fail no matter how good the surface looks. So we handle it first.

When drainage is part of a bigger project, we solve the water first and then build the hardscape, lawn, and beds on top of a base that stays dry. One crew who gets the order of operations right.

  • Drainage solved before hardscape and lawns
  • Grading planned for the whole property
  • One crew who builds it all in the right order

Good to know

Drainage questions we hear a lot

A few of the things homeowners ask about wet yards and grading.

What affects the price?

Mostly where the water comes from, how far it has to be moved, the soil, and how much grading or rebuilding the fix involves. Once we know where the water is going, we give you a written price.

Water pools in my yard after every storm. Can you fix it?

Yes. We figure out where the water is coming from and where it wants to go, then use grading, a French drain, or catch basins to move it away from the problem area.

Can drainage work keep water out of my basement?

Often, yes. A lot of basement water starts as surface water pooling against the foundation. Regrading for positive slope and tying in your downspouts to carry roof water away can make a real difference. For interior water issues we'll tell you honestly if you also need a waterproofing specialist.

What's a French drain?

It's a gravel-filled trench with a perforated pipe that intercepts water underground and carries it away to a safe outlet. It's one of the most effective fixes for a chronically wet area or water moving toward the house.

Do I need drainage done before a patio or new lawn?

If you have a water problem, yes. Building a patio or seeding a lawn over poor drainage is how those projects fail early. We solve the water first, then build on a base that stays dry.

How do I get started?

Request a consultation and we'll set up an on-site visit. If we can, we look at it during or right after a rain. We diagnose the problem and put together a solution and written price.
